  • 09.00 Welcome and introductions (objectives, agenda, ground rules and participants' introductions to really get to know each other)

    • 15 min' a round table introduction just asking the participants to tell their name and org, this will follow speed dating introduction exercise with their expectation - facilitator,- TG

    • before break remind people if they read CN if not quickly get from their table table and review it on a break as we have the following exercise focus on it.

  • 10.30 Visioning the heaven and hell of the VC hub: the hub concept - MN
    • Process: The concept note already sent ahead and we hope people already read this and some of these also mention on VC hub presentation.We will print the document per group to their further reference.
    • 45 mini' we have group discussion on the strength, weakness and feedback on areas to improve (include).

  • 12.00 Partners Need Assessment - TG
    • Process: the main output will be the input/idea which will built the survey.
    • mapping on the wall with value chain actors, participants will be asked to write their names on post it notes and post it under their preferred value chain.
    • group discussion as per the value chain actors and their role, 10 min' participants will categorize themselves on the value chain they are working on (eg. traders, producers, farmer, processors, etc..), 10 min', and then again another grouping by their role, finally we will form the group to further work on the need assessment.
    • Epi will provide startup question to initiate the discussion (some of the ideas, who should we targeting,whom to involve, what are some of the issues we need to focus on and include, etc... . )
    • 30 min' group discussion and developing their inputs and document it on the flip char.

  • 14:00 Partners Need Assessment - group work continues - MN
    • world cafe ( some questions for EPi what will be some of the question for discussion, and give people's name to be table owners for the world cafe ,
    • Epi will provide startup question to initiate the discussion (some of the ideas, who should we targeting,whom to involve, what are some of the issues we need to focus on and include, etc... . )
    • 10' each - 3 groups -30 min' group discussion and developing their inputs and document it on the flip char.

  • 15.10 Adaptation of CN to Southern and Eastern Africa regions - TG
    • Process: 30 min, group work by regions the global people can position themselves as per their preference. the group work will focus on how do we make the CN note make sense in the regions, how can we adopt the concept note to our specific region, what to include, what to improve, etc.
    • we need to put some questions on the projector, Epi will provide some questions to project on the wall
    • two big groups and flip chart stand to document, will happen opposite side of the rooms not be disturbed

Day 2
  • 09:00 Identifying plan: resource mobilization, partnership development, engagement and communication - MN
    • 3 stations are set up in different corners of the room.
    • 15'm Participants are given colored cards to write their ideas on the 3 topics and assign them accordingly to the sections
    • 10mins per station: Gallery of each station begins. We as facilitators tease out ideas from the posted items and ask for others.Questions include: group work randomly organized, ideas to discuss, who do we target, how do we make sure to build the right partnership, what is the plan we should target, how to get fund for the hub, what are the plan for resource mobilization, partnership, they document on flip chart

  • 11.00 Organizing the hub: organizational structure, activities: who hosts, who administers, who chairs, who's involved in doing what..MN TG.
    • process: Open discussion
    • Given what we want to achieve how do we structure the hub? EG Agrodep and Resaaks. Do we re invent the wheel or customize existing models to suit our needs. From these platforms what has worked? What hasn't? Who here has participated in a platform that we could look into their model.

    • Objective of the session -* Generic CN,- Who needs to be involved in the final document review. Who does this CN need to be target to and from who?     • process: who is doing, draft of the need assessment, research assistant to record, document, and produce report to CTA
